Overland Conveyor Drive Upgrades: Rulmeca Corporation's Mike Gawinski had an opportunity to see Lafarge dual-drive overland conveyor drive system upgrades, including one near Nottingham (pictured here) and one in Leicestershire. The company reported huge power savings at the latter, exceeding $30,000 per year, after the conversion to Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys.
New Overland Conveyors: Visits included a day with Canning Conveyor, who is promoting the use of dual Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys in their "Superdrive" jib head (shown here.) The design features two drive pulleys mounted to a common column in a "nested" arrangement near discharge end.
Reversing Shuttle Conveyor : Lafarge's Mountsorrel quarry now has 20 Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys in service, including the dual drive reversing shuttle conveyor shown. One of two shuttle conveyors in the toast rack feed system, it has used one 50 HP Motorized Pulley at the head and one at the tail for more than 15 years.
UK Coal Kellingley Colliery: Mike Gawinski visited UK Coal to see, first hand, the Motorized Pulleys described in the technical paper he presented jointly with UK Coal Managers at the 2006 Coal Prep Conference in Lexington, KY. UK Coal now has more than 24 Rulmeca Motorized Pulleys, including 100 HP model 800H units, in service at various prep plants.
