After two years of R&D, Rulmeca Corporation is pleased to announce the availability of our new ActiveLAGTM antibacterial lagging, now a standard feature for food processing drum motors. We are now prepared for full production of Motorized Pulleys with this innovative antibacterial nitrile lagging in both our popular white and blue colors.
We will launch this exciting new product feature in booth #BC38087 at the International Processing and Production Expo in Atlanta 1/28-1/30. Come and visit us to learn why this new lagging is an excellent complement to existing plant sanitization procedures.
Rather than replacing plant sanitization procedures, ActiveLAGTM works in conjunction with them, making food processing equipment more hygienic and safe.
Following the ISO 22196:2011 standard to measure antibacterial activity, an independent lab confirmed that ActiveLAGTM eliminates up to 99.99% of tested bacteria within 6 hours. After only two hours, reductions were:
- Listeria 99.8%
- Staph 97.9%
- Salmonella 51.0%
- E. coli 48.5%
In addition to bacterial reduction counts, an independent lab obtained visual evidence of distinct inhibition halos, proving the lagging’s effectiveness and homogeneity. ActiveLAGTM is not a surface spray. Homogeneity proves that the lagging retains its antibacterial properties throughout its life…even as the lagging wears away.
Using ASTM E2562-22 testing, an independent lab counted biomass and obtained visual evidence of the lagging’s effectiveness in reducing Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation. Green shows live biofilm and black shows dead. This is important because biofilms help bacteria colonize and persist long-term.
